Hi everyone,

Long time no post! I'm aware that the last 18 months things have been relatively quiet from me - I began Sixth Form meaning that unfortunately Cards for Bravery had to be put aside slightly so I could focus on my studies. Things have still been going along behind the scenes however just not as much as as they were before... both mainstream school and doing A Level's takes a large amount of energy from someone who has very little of it!
At the end of this school year I am taking a gap year, one of the main reasons being to broaden Cards for Bravery along with hoping to partake in other activities I am interested in such as advocacy/public speaking, voluntary & charity work etc within topics I am passionate about - so watch out for what will be happening this year and beyond!

A bit of an overall update on what has been happening whilst I've been gone:
  • In November last year I won a Child of Courage Award at the Indie Awards (an independent award ceremony dedicated to those helping others in the area I live), recognising the work I have done with my Cards for Bravery. I'll upload some pictures below and if you are interested, here is a link too the video that was shown before receiving my award: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5FXqNBSI8s . It was a fantastic night and felt great to be recognised and bring further acknowledgement to Cards for Bravery!
  • Yet again, I received a fantastic amount of Christmas Cards (approx. 400-500) during the holidays. Distributing a high amount of cards during this time of year is something I feel is important and very special to the children as spending Christmas in hospital and being unwell during the holidays is particularly difficult.
  • In March 2019 there was a card-making event held locally which was great and they created a large amount of cards. I am hoping to hold more of these in the future so if you are interested they will be posted on our social media!
  • I have still continued to send out cards during the time I've been quiet. Within the next year or so, I am hoping to bring Cards for Bravery into more hospitals and overall broaden the organisation. If you are a health care worker who is interested in bringing Cards for Bravery into your hospital then please contact me!
I am hoping that if all goes too plan, I should be back on track very soon and working harder than ever. As always, please continue sending in cards and the continued support is amazing! If you are sending in cards then please remember the recent address change (address found in the contact section at the top of this page).
